About Plain Timer
Plain Timer is a small collection of free online timers and clocks: a countdown timer, stopwatch, Pomodoro timer, exam timer, egg and kitchen timer, and a full screen world clock. Each tool does one job and explains how it works.
How the timers work
- Every timer calculates the remaining time from your device's clock instead of counting ticks, so it stays accurate when the browser slows down a hidden tab.
- Sounds are generated in your browser, and browsers only allow sound after you press a button. That is why the alarm works best when you start the timer yourself.
- Timers run entirely on your device. We do not receive the times you set.
What to keep in mind
These tools are made for everyday use such as studying, cooking, workouts and meetings. They run in a web page, so a locked phone, a sleeping laptop or a closed tab can stop them. For official examinations, sports timing or safety critical tasks, use the equipment or clock that the organizer or manufacturer requires. Cooking times are guidance only.
Independence
Plain Timer is an independent website. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any other timer, clock, productivity or cooking brand. The Pomodoro Technique is a method created by Francesco Cirillo, and the Pomodoro page offers a simple countdown that follows its basic pattern.
